1. Okay so the first step is to undercoat the whole model with a dark colour that suits the darkest shadows of whatever colour you’re going for. In this case I chose complete black. Then as part of the first step we just slap on some highlights of Vallejo Ice Yellow straight on top of the black. This should be done quickly and roughly as it’s part of the quick and rough that makes the texture.
2. Next up I paint Nocturna Vallejo Frozen Flesh over and around the highlights on the chest and Malefic Flesh over and around the highlights on the leg. Again be quick and rough and don’t worry about complete coverage as that helps with the texture later. 3. Painting Vallejo Model Colour Grey Blue over the Ice Yellow on the chest and then painting VMC Field Blue where the grey blue and frozen flesh meet and overlap both a little bit with the field blue. For the legs I used less blue for the highlights as I want to keep the legs more brown looking.

5. And the final step is to continue to do some refining and contrast prep. Here I might use some VMC Smoke as a very thin glaze on any areas of shadow I want to make darker but no glazed on the highlights, you don’t need to worry about leaving tide marks and lines because they end up giving more texture.
